We had a good turnout tonight. It was wet, cold and windy, but 18 young men came out for a five-mile ruck, fellowship, to motivate one another and to listen to God's word. It's what Brotherhood is about.
"Help Lord, for the Godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men." Prov. 12:1
Godly: Pious; reverencing God, His character and laws. LIVING in obedience to His commands; conformed to God's law. (Webster 1828)
Faithful: Firm in adherence to the truth and to the duties of one's beliefs; of true fidelity; loyal; constant in the performance of duty. (Webster 1828)
What happens when Godly, faithful men fail to show up???
Hard times ensue. There is no accountability, no responsibility for one's actions, fatherless homes, drug and alcohol abuse, poverty, crime rates soar, abortion rates soar, calling evil good and good evil; no moral standard; every man doing that which is right in his own eyes (Judges 17:6).
But the Lord answers David's plea in Prov. 12 verse 5. "For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him."
In Romans, chapter 11, Paul refers to Elijah's similar plea to God:
3 "Lord, they have killed thy prophets and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
(Baal represents all that stands in opposition to God: sin, corruption, rebellion, love of money and power, and love of self.)
5 Even so then, at this present time also, there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
Where is this generations' remnant?
Will we bow the knee to the image of Baal? or,
Will we maintain our integrity and be faithful, Godly men?
